Christos Gkogkas MD

Dr. Christos Gkogkas is a specialist in Interventional Neuroradiology /Radiology.  He graduated from Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf, Medical School (1994).  He trained in Radiology at the Heraklion General University Hospital.  Upon completion of his residency, he worked as a Neuroradiology fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, Boston (2002-2004).

Subsequently, he continued his training in Interventional Neuroradiology as well as in the management of Hemangiomas and Vascular Malformations in children and adults at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital Boston (2004-2006).  

He completed visiting fellowships in Interventional Neuroradiology at Bicetre & Fondation Rothschild hospitals in Paris and Haceteppe University Hospital in Ankara. He has worked as an attending Interventional and Diagnostic Neuroradiologist at William Beaumont Hospital, Michigan (2006-2009).  He has been working as the Head of Interventional Neuroradiology at IASO General and Children’s Hospital, Athens, Greece. He is Co-Director of the Hemangioma and Vascular malformations Clinic at IASO General and Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Gkogkas has a special interest and a large experience in the treatment of Hemangiomas and Vascular malformations. 

Dr Gkogkas has a large experience in the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations and acute stroke. He also specializes in the embolization of cerebral and vertebral column tumors.

He is a senior member of scientific societies, member of the editorial board and reviewer of scientific journals and has been an invited lecturer in many national and international conferences.
